Step #3
WOW! You are ready to teach Short Vowel Sounds .... This is BIG!
If Consonants are the bricks, then vowels are the mortar, and you are ready to build...WORDS!
We love this part!
These fun pages were designed with the same thoughtful simplicity as our Super Sound Cards and Consonant Fun Pages. We bet you are as excited as we are!
Activities include learning and practicing the vowel sounds, filling in the missing vowel, matching the short vowel word to the picture and cutting and pasting the missing vowel. When you have completed all the activities you are ready to model reading CVC words. (Consonant-Vowel -Consonant) . Move your finger across the bottom of each word...... demonstrate how to blend the sounds and make a word. This may seem slow and awkward at first, but stay with it... be patient. With practice and perseverance you will be GREAT! There are 35 Short Vowel learning and fun pages in all!
This is a representation of a Short Vowel Fun Page... Our graphics are very cute, simple, and in black and white.
Look for the "Teaching Short Vowels" coversheet with teacher instructions and insights based on years of experience and current methods and theory.
There is a developmental leap from knowing letter sounds to blending sounds together. Expect to spend some time teaching, reteaching and reinforcing letter sounds. We suggest you print 2 copies of our files, one for teaching and one for review. When you are finished, cut out the letter, word and picture squares for fun games matching and sorting!
